Body Comp Analysis
What is it?
Body Composition Analysis (Body Comp) is used to describe the percentage of fat, bone, water, and muscle in a human body. Everyone’s body composition is unique, regardless of the outward appearance. You can be the same height and weight of someone and have the same BMI, but have completely different body compositions!
When you complete a Body Composition Analysis you are getting measurements of your fat, muscle mass, and water levels. These measurements cannot be measured by the human eye which is why a machine is required. There are other alternative ways to measure body fat such as Skinfold Calipers and Hydrostatic Weighing. These techniques are great at reporting body far, but nothing else. A Body Comp machine however, will give you the complete breakdown.
After the Body Comp Analysis, you’ll know your:
- Total Body Fat
- Visceral Fat (fat around the organs)
- Fat-Free Mass (includes muscle, bones, organs, and fluids)
- Total Body Water
- Muscle Mass
- BMI (body mass index)
Knowing your body comp gives you more insight on where you may need improvement and how you can help revitalize your overall heath. Depending on your results, drinking more water, doing some weight resistance training, or eating a healthier diet may put you back in the place you need to be.
