Testosterone Pellet Therapy for Men

Testosterone pellet therapy is a form of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) that provides a steady release of testosterone over time. Many men choose this long-acting option to support energy, focus, and overall well-being without the daily routine of creams or injections.

Testosterone pellet therapy benefits

Pellet therapy may support multiple aspects of male wellness by providing a steady release of bioidentical testosterone. Many men report benefits such as:

Who May Consider Pellet Therapy?

As men age, testosterone levels may gradually decline, which can affect energy, focus, and physical performance. Pellet therapy is one method some men explore to support their hormonal health. This delivery system slowly releases bioidentical testosterone over a period of months and is often chosen by men who prefer a consistent, low-maintenance option.

Testosterone is a naturally occurring hormone present in both men and women. In men, it plays an important role in areas such as energy, strength, and overall vitality. Over time, testosterone levels may gradually decline, which some men notice in the form of changes to energy, focus, or physical performance. This natural phase of aging is sometimes referred to as “andropause.”
Testosterone pellet therapy is one option men may consider when exploring hormone support. This method provides a steady release of bioidentical testosterone over several months and is often chosen by men who prefer a consistent approach compared to daily routines such as creams or injections. Pellet therapy is valued for its convenience and its ability to provide long-acting hormone support.

How does pellet therapy work?

During your initial visit, your provider will review your health history, current medications, and order blood work to better understand your hormone levels. Based on these results, your provider will discuss whether pellet therapy may be an appropriate option for you.
Pellet therapy involves placing a tiny, rice-sized pellet beneath the skin in a quick, in-office procedure. These pellets are designed to gradually release bioidentical testosterone over several months, aligning with the body’s natural rhythm.

Many men who choose pellet therapy notice gradual changes over time, such as improved focus, steady energy, or a greater sense of well-being. While there are multiple forms of testosterone support available—including creams, injections, and patches—some men prefer pellets for their convenience and long-lasting release.

How does treatment work?

At Valley Medical Weight Loss, we tailor each testosterone replacement treatment to your unique hormone levels, concerns, and wishes. We stress a balanced lifestyle that includes a healthy diet and exercise plan.

Step one — Measuring your current testosterone levels

The first step is to find out what is causing your symptoms. This means testing your hormone levels to establish a baseline. Your testosterone, estradiol, PSA, DHT, DHEA, pregnenolone, and cortisol levels will all be assessed. We may also do thyroid testing. This is all completed via your initial bloodwork.

Step two — Medical evaluation

In order to make sure that testosterone replacement therapy will be right for you, following your blood draw, we will schedule your consultation with our BHRT provider who will review your bloodwork, conduct a thorough review of your medical history, and screen for any conditions that might prevent you from undergoing treatment. If you are a candidate based on your medical history and bloodwork, your pellets will be administered at this appointment.

Step three — Monitoring your progress

Four weeks after your testosterone replacement therapy, it will be time to recheck your hormone levels. At this point, we can make adjustments to your treatment plan and fine-tune your therapy to ensure your testosterone is at a therapeutic level.

Step four — Re-treatment

Depending on how quickly your body metabolizes the testosterone pellets, you will return every 5-6 months for new pellets. Bloodwork will be needed annually to continually monitor testosterone levels.
