What is Latisse?

Latisse (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) is a prescription eyelash medication that can help achieve darker, thicker, fuller lashes, making your eyes stand out and your smile unforgettable! The treatment helps extend the growth phase for the eyelash hairs while also increasing the number of lashes that spring up. Latisse is approved to combat hypotrichosis, or inadequate eyelash growth, but it was originally a medication for glaucoma.

How does Latisse work?

During treatment, a single drop of Latisse is applied to the upper lashes using a specialized applicator. It should never be applied to the lower lash line. The medications should be used every day for at least two months in order to see the best results. Improvements will continue as long as you use the product. Clinical studies have shown that patients who use Latisse for at least 16 weeks have seen the following results:

  • 25% increase in lash length
  • 106% increase in lash thickness and fullness
  • 18% increase in lash darkness

Is Latisse safe?

If you use prescription products for eye pressure problems, use Latisse only under a doctor’s care. Latisse may cause darkening of the colored part of the eye, which is likely permanent. Latisse may also cause eyelid skin darkening, which may be reversible.

If you have eye problems or have undergone eye surgery, consult your doctor. Common side effects include itchy and red eyes. If discontinued, lashes will gradually return to their previous appearance.
